ARKS® UK R&D are developing low-cost sustainable housing solutions in the UK.
ARKS® are designed to offer low-cost semi-permanent sustainable housing solutions in the UK. Our ARKS® units are designed to fit on a standard width transporter, be lifted onto site and able to be installed or removed within a day. Ideal for local authorities housing needs as well as residential campus style flexible accommodation.
ARKS® exists to create affordable low impact modular housing.
ARKS® units are designed and developed with a priority of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and being part of the UK government strategy to work towards net zero. The energy efficiency of ARKS® units are a really important aspect of our design, as well as choice of repurposed and low carbon materials. ARKS® UK R&D are working with designers and engineers to develop sustainable homes.
AT ARKS® WE CREATE INSPIRATIONAL HOMES THAT SHARE A PASSION AND LOVE FOR THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT.
ARKS® design team and R&D facility are all in UK. The focus for the ARKS® R&D process is to ensure the sourcing of genuinely sustainable materials as well as ones which can either be reused or biodegrade at the end of the model’s 60 to 100 year lifespan.
ARKS® IS FOUNDED TO BE PART OF THE SOLUTION OUR PLANET REQUIRES RIGHT NOW BY DEVELOPING ENVIRONMENTALLY FOCUSED, SUSTAINABLE AND SEMI-PERMANENT HOMES.
The British woodlands that we source our timber from are sustainably planted FSC as well as biodiverse, ensuring the type of trees are part of a multispecies woodland.
ARKS® construction technique is different to traditional property development in that we pre manufacture the models off site and bring them to site 95% complete with minimal impact to the natural environment. If however the model is to be placed off-grid then we can accommodate for that also. Minimal infrastructure is required for Models S and K, meaning minimal interference with the environment. Even with on-grid ARKS® models we work with landowners to suggest renewable forms of energy, rainwater harvesting and soakaway drainage, to keep infrastructure requirements and disruption to the natural environment at a minimum.
